The Rawhide trip is an annual retreat/fishing trip that takes place in July each year and is open to any interested man (man = out of High School). This unique “extension” of the Tyrone Men’s ministry is a challenging time of relaxation and reflection as we study principles in God’s Word at Canada’s Rawhide Lake. We do a little fishin’ too! This year’s speaker yet to be determined.
Below we are featuring some pictures of some of the wonderful views and some of the fish that didn't get away this year!

Rawhide History
Through the years our trips have ranged in size from 7 to 34. We travel up together in the cozy Tyrone bus. If attendance is low we drive our own vehicles. We will be leaving the church parking lot no later than 10:00pm on Thursday evening July 15th. We will return by 9:00 pm on Tuesday, July 20th . Please plan to arrive at the church by 8:30 on the 15th so we can pack effectively. We make two stops on the way up. Our first stop is Gaylord. We descend upon Glenn’s for gas, last minute forgotten items and goodies. Our second stop is at Sault Ste Marie for gas. The bus and the boat gas cans are filled here. We pass through customs at the Soo. All of us need passports due to border regulations. There are 2 types available through the Post Office. The cheaper one works for ground border crossings. The last stop is Frontier Lodge, the home base for the outfitter. We will have a home cooked breakfast around 7:00 am, purchase the licenses (both are included in the fee - It will be $385 for 2010) and then portage into Rawhide Lake. If all goes as planned, we will hear chants of “FISH ON, FISH ON!” by 1:00pm!!
We bring our own motors and gas. All bedding is provided. You may want to bring a pillow & blanket for sleeping through the ride up as we travel all night. Items to bring include:
-Fishing gear for lake trout and/or small mouth bass
-Personal toiletry items -Life jacket-Bible -Swimsuit-Hat
-Bug repellant -Sunscreen -Boat chair-Fins & snorkel-Lawn chair
-Rain gear -Snacks-Ear plugs -Flash light -small boat motor
-Hiking boots (optional hike up Thunder Mountain - a 400 foot bluff overlooking the lake)
This water is NOT muddy. The water is so clear you can see the sand over 8 feet down!
We are looking forward to a repeat of the spiritual growth, fun, and fellowship that we have all experienced on the past trips!!! If you have any questions or for sign up, please call:
